Burns Environmental: Preserving Biodiversity, Protecting Infrastructure!

FAQ: Burns Environmental Frequently Asked Questions

Question:

"What harm can a little plant possibly do?"

Answer:

Billions of dollars in damage and control efforts, and the most significant loss of biodiversity in history! We are talking serious, almost irreparable damage to the environment, and our infrastructure. and it has gone global! There are invasive species, already present, which can double in 5 to 7 days, moving from 1 plant to 60 million in under 2 months! According to the National Invasive Species Information Center, some estimates put the economic cost associated with invasive species damage and control efforts at more than $100 billion a year in the United States.

Question:

What is "Infrastructure"?

Answer:

Infrastructure is the system under the system. It is the foundation of our economy, and our lives. It comprises our roads, bridges, communications and power lines, our pipe lines, our water ways, our water intake and purification systems, our rail ways, and industrial sites. In short, everything that allows everything else to work!

Question:

Why is biodiversity so important?

Answer:

Biodiversity is important because each species is in some way dependent on the other.

Question:

I thought that having more species would make us more diverse. Isn't that biodiversity?

Answer:

There is a truth to this statement, but when one or more "non native" species begin to take the area away from the native species, the native population suffers and dwindles. In some cases it can be completely destroyed along with all it supported!
